Myanmar was once isolated by the international community because of reports on human rights’ violence and abuses. Now the government plans to include the study of human rights in schools all over the country, said news report from AAP.
According to Win Mra, chairman of the state-run Myanmar Human Rights Commission, discussions were held regarding the inclusion of International Human Rights Declaration on school syllabuses with the Ministry of Education.
He emphasized during the launching ceremony of the first official Myanmar translation of the declaration where he presided that there is a need for people to be aware of their human rights and its goal to teach children from primary school onwards.
The printing of some 30,000 copies of the Myanmar-language version will be given to various government departments, members of parliament and schools, the report said.
