Myanmar to compete in the International Judo Tournament in Thailand

Myanmar's Judo Federation announced that the country's National Judo team will participate in the International Judo Tournament to be held in Thailand from July 25 to 29, Eleven Media news reported.

Myanmar will be the host country for the upcoming South East Asian (SEA) Games this coming December 2013 and part of the preparation is a rigid training by the judo team.

The national judo team is headed by two Japanese coaches and five Myanmar coaches. The team is composed of 33 judokas including 15 women and 18 men athletes.

Earlier this year, players were chosen and were brought to Japan for a one month joint training and will undertake further extensive training in September and October.

By the month of August, a friendly judo competition will be held before the SEA Games begin, the report said.

During the 26th SEA Games held in Indonesia in year 2011, Myanmar's judo team bagged one gold medal, six silver medals and two bronze.
