The Shan State Progress Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) base at Loikuk in Kehsi Township in southern Shan State was assaulted by the Burmese Army Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 506 yesterday before noon, SHAN news reported.
The 30-strong unit of Burma Army based in Wan NawngKa, Kehsi Township, launched attack on SSPP/SSA base at LoiKuk near Nakhiling, Wanphwe tract, a 10km (7 miles) distance from Kehsi on June 20.
The SSA base of the Shan army was never taken by the Burmese army during their attack. The Burmese forces retreated at 1:30 pm. However at around 3:00 pm they called for reinforcement and Burma Army's Infantry Battalion (IB) 131 from Kehsi arrived with 100 troops.
Locals disclosed that there were 10 injured soldiers being carried in stretchers and were taken to Lashio.
According to an officer of SSPP/SSA though both the SSPP/SSA and Burmese Army agreed on a ceasefire, the Burmese forces continuously carry out attacks on the SSA.
