Microsoft opens its business with Myanmar IT in Yangon

Microsoft Corporation, one of the giants in terms of technology opened its new business in Myanmar creating its partnership with a local company Myanmar Information Technology serving as the sole supplier of all its product in the market, said news report from Dow Jones.

According to Jamie Harper, president for new markets in Southeast Asia at Microsoft the goal of the company is to focus in the distribution of its product instead of doing some manufacturing operations.

Mr. Harper refused to say a comment on the particular investments in Myanmar, but disclosed that its partner, Myanmar Information Technology which put up the first ATMs in the country last year has the resources of Microsoft behind it, the report said.

The company is also eyeing probable markets in the region such as Laos. He further said that the relationship that they have established in Myanmar is far different from that of Laos but they are also willing to do what they have done in Myanmar to Laos.
