Nobel Peace Prize winner and democratic icon Aung San SuuKyi has expressed her aspiration to become the next president of Myanmar in the coming election by 2015, said news report from The Nation.
However, it is important to establish the rule of law by means of amending the 2008 constitution.
During the World Economic Forum on East Asia 2013 session "Myanmar: What future?” she revealed in all honesty that she wants to run for President before a crowd of 450 people who attended the said event.
The National League of Democracy party will soon reveal their suggestions and proposals regarding the revision of the Constitution. Aung San Suukyi disclosed that there have been no improvements in terms of peace and respect for the rule of law in the country.
According to U Soe Thane, Minister to the Office of the President of Myanmar, during the past two years of governance the situation has improved largely.
Various ideas had been considered for transformation but it is also important to loosen the root cause that has tied the country for the past 60 years, the report said.
Aung San SuuKyi believed that the rule of law would enhance and intensify the country’s standards in terms of human rights. This is to make certain that security and protection of the people will be observed regardless of what race they belong to.
