Japan news agency Kyodo opens office in Yangon

Kyodo News opened its office in Yangon last Thursday. The ceremonial was held at Chatrium Hotel and was formally participated by Satoshi Ishikawa, Kyodo News President, Japanese Ambassador Mikio Numata and various guests from Myanmar’s political parties and government, media organizations and Japanese companies, said news report from Kyodo.

Remarkable message was conveyed by Ishikawa last May 26 saying that Kyodo is the first Japanese media organization to open an office together with their resident staff. He further added that Kyodo will be playing a very significant role as a link to Japan and Myanmar by giving out true and precise news from the country.

As part of the remarkable transformation the government has permitted the opening of foreign news bureaus in the country, according to Deputy Information Minister Ye Htut, the report said.
