President Thein Sein will have his official tour to the United States
with President Obama inviting the former. Part of his visit will be
rendering a speech at the School of Advanced International Studies of
Johns Hopkins University and the United States Chamber of Commerce to be
held on the 20th of May, according to news reported from Eleven Media.
Furthermore,
he will be the first President of the country to go to Washington. The
last high profile politician who went to visit Washington was Ne Win,
chairman of the Revolution Council government in year 1966 upon the
invitation of President Lyndon Johnson.
The government of the
United States has acknowledged and recognized the hard effort of the
government of President Thein Sein in undertaking various reforms
despite reports from the Human Rights Watch's accusing the government of
violence and abuses against the Rohingyas, the report said.
