The Border Trade Department (BTD) disclosed that two additional
checkpoints will soon be opened on the Myanmar-Thai border after the
border’s demarcation will be finally completed, Eleven Media news reported.
According to BTD Deputy Director Nyunt Aung the border line is being measured after which Mese checkpoint in situated Kayah region and Mawtaung checkpoint located in Taninthari region will be opened.
At present there are six border checkpoints where goods are traded. They are very optimistic and confident that with the opening of these two checkpoints trade and business transactions would become legal thus illegal trade will be lessened or minimize, the report said.
