A fire hit a Muslim school in Myanmar city of Rangoon and 13 kids were reported to have died in the incident. According to police authorities, the cause of the fire is excessively high (electric) voltage. The building was badly damaged. Most of the school children escaped unhurt, BBC news reported.
Police went to the area because many people were at the incident sight thinking that the fire has something to do with communal conflicts that occurred in various regions of the country.
According to police spokesperson ThetLwin, the building located in eastern Yangoon has a two storey with around 75 orphans staying in the place. Most of the children escaped by running out of a door after police knocked it open.
From the official Facebook page of the Myanmar Police Force they disclosed that the victims suffered from burns and inhaled smoke that led to their death. The victims were mostly boys. Because of the recent unrest, staff of the dormitories had locked its doors which made it harder for the victims to escape, said news report from BBC.
