The government of Myanmar has allowed the Associated Press to open a bureau in Myanmar making it the very first international news agency to come up with an office in Yangon. The announcement came from the office of the Ministry of Information on Saturday, said news report from AP.
The Associated Press can now expand its news coverage on the transformation of the country giving more advantage for its members and customers all over the world.
Staff of the Associated Press will work full time and these will include six multi-format journalists. One of them is Aye Aye Win, an award winning correspondent who has reported from her native country for the AP since 1989.
AP President and CEO Gary Pruitt said that they are committed to give their best effort in taking significant transformation the country is undertaking right now and for more years to come, the report said.
