Danish pop band Michael Learns arrives in Yangon

Michael Learns to Rock, a well known Danish pop band set foot in Yangon this morning prior to his scheduled concert to be held on Sunday where VIP tickets were sold at 99,000 kyat (US$115) per seat, Eleven Media news reported.

The eleven members of the entourage composed of singers and backup musicians and the trio were welcomed by models Aye Chan Moe, Thonn Sat and Nan Myat Phyo Thin at the airport.

Sithu Lwin, a Myanmar singer disclosed that he was overjoyed and thrilled when he learned that his favourite band will be doing concert in their country. He himself is a diehard fan of the band.

The programme of the three stars were not revealed but they will be having their press conference on Sunday, the same schedule for their concert to be held at People’s Park.

The all boy band was organized in 1988 by singer-keyboardist Jascha Richter, drummer Kare Wanscher, guitarist Mikkel Lentz and bass player Soren Madsen and was named Micheal Learns to Rock. However, in year 2000 Madsen left the group.

Their debut album came out in 1991 and since then the band had sold more than 11 million records all over the world but mostly in Asia. Its songs are frequently covered by singers here, said news report from Eleven Media.

To name a few of the popular hit songs are That’s Why (You Go Away), Some Day, Sleeping Child, 25 Minutes, Out of The Blue and Breaking My Heart.
Among their hit songs which is the most downloaded single of 2006 is the song Take Me to Your Heart.
