Yawdserk: States must have its own military and police forces

Residents of Tachilek met with Lt-Gen Yawdserk of Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) last Sunday June 23. During the meeting he disclosed that states must have their own defence and police forces, SHAN news reported.

According to Lt-Gen Yawdserk the present condition of the peace process can be compared to climbing a staircase with 7 stairs. Climbing on the first stair has just begun. In order to go up the other stairs it is very important that people must cooperate and show support to this undertaking.

Having a political dialogue is the best answer to this situation. He further said that having a state defence and police forces formed with state residents will give the people chance to attain equal rights.

His visit lasted for 15 days and it ended at Taunggyi on Sunday with 500 people at Hawng Leuk and Sansai monasteries accorded him with a warm welcome.

During the rally, he asked the people's participation and counsel so as to make certain that they are not taken advantage of as what happened during the 1947 Panglong Conference, the report said.

He also strongly urged the people to apply for jobs in public sectors as well as with the government in order to gain more knowledge and information in administrative matters. Original source: http://www.betweenonline.com/2013/06/25/yawdserk-states-must-have-its-own-military-and-police-forces/
