China-made Myanma Airways plane skids off at Monghsat airport

At about 11:50 this morning, the China-made MA 60 plane owned and operated by Myanma Airways flying Yangon-Heho-Monghsat skidded while landing on the runway of Monghsat, said news report from Eleven Media.

It skidded and stopped at a fence about 200 yards from the runway after losing control. The main cause was because of brake failure. The left wing of the plane was destroyed.

Fifty five passengers were aboard the plane and two women were injured. They were brought and treated at a military hospital in Monghsat.

Than Tun, Managing Director of Myanmar Airways disclosed that while the aircraft is landing it encountered break failure. He further added that the passengers suffered from minor injuries.

Ministry of Transport, Directorate of Civil Aviation and officials from Myanma Airways has formed an investigation committee to conduct inquiry of the incident. This afternoon all the members of the investigating body proceeded to Monghsat, Eleven Media news report.
