About 38 people were arrested by authorities because of their involvement in the latest hostilities recorded in Lashio, Myanmar's northeastern Shan state that began last Tuesday, said news report from Eleven Media.

The authorities said there's no truth to the rumour that the woman who was set on fire is dead.

The conflict started in Lashio after a Muslim man chased a Buddhist woman and doused her with fuel and set her on fire.

In a span of three days more suspects were taken into custody by the police force because of setting a fire on Muslim home in Ward-7 Region 17 yesterday.

Around 400 police and army troops were deployed in that area and curfew in Lashio is still in effect.

The Lashio Township Police Force leader disclosed that they are monitoring the situation although it has been under full control.

Aye Aye Win is the Chinese-ethnic Shan-Myanmar woman of Buddhist faith. Meanwhile Nay Win who is the suspect is an Indian Chinese man of Islamic faith, the report said.
