The UN Development Program (UNDP) has promised the Myanmar government to support its program action plan in the country for year 2013 to 2015 in the amount of US$159 million, according to news reported from Xinhua.
Myanmar's Ministry of National Planning and Economic and Development and the UNDP signed the three-year program during the official visit of UN delegation headed by Assistant Secretary-General Ajay Chhibber in Nay Pyi Taw last Monday.
As Myanmar bounced back to Normal Country Status beginning January 2013, it was when the UN decided to continue its financial support and assistance to the country.
The signing of the program came after a workshop on Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP), Community Development for Remote Townships Project (CDRT) and the new program of UNDP was held in the new capital in December 2012.
During their meeting, both Chhibber and Myanmar's speaker of the Lower House Shwe Mann U discussed matters concerning bilateral cooperation between UN agencies and the parliament as well as the parliamentary affairs, the report said.
