The European Union decided to lift economic and political sanctions in Myanmar as the government promised to work hard to implement reforms and to exert effort on achieving democracy, AP news report.
More reforms particular in the socio- economic market will be highlighted giving a clear indication to the international community that it will be given that much needed attention, as disclosed by Senior Myanmar Diplomat Aung Lynn to reporters on the sidelines of an Association of Southeast Asian Nations conference in Brunei's capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
Since Myanmar is considered as one of the least developed country in ASEAN there is so much work to do for development and progress to prosper.
The European Union comprising of 27 nation blocs lifted all sanctions but the sale or arms and equipments remain. The lifting of sanctions can further strengthen ties of EU to Myanmar.
Catherine Ashton, the EU's foreign policy chief said that among the many problems Myanmar is concerned about is to fight poverty, eliminate human rights and abuses, and work on democracy and to attain full and lasting peace.
