Rumour reveals Myanmar Peace Center director receives US$120,000 for annual salary

The Myanmar Peace Center has been receiving public outcry to provide its financial records after hearing reports that a center director is receiving US$120,000 as his yearly compensation, said news report from Eleven Media.

However Presidential spokesman Ye Htut disclosed that they are not authorized to release any financial neither documents nor provide any detailed information. He further added that as individual employee of the center they have no capability to issue such pertinent papers since peace process are fixed by the President’s Office.

According to Kyaw Soe Hlaing, an administrative worker at the peace center their main task is to render office work. Transparency particular on finances is what political analysts and ethnic groups demand from the director. They also want to know how this money is being spent.

Meanwhile, the director has issued statement saying that the allegation is baseless and not true at all, Eleven Media news reported.
