An official apology was issued by the Brussels-based Euro-Burma Office
regarding the report they made on its website last Friday identifying
the National League for Democracy (NLD) members in Meiktila as
responsible for the unrest that occurred in central Burma last week,
Irrawaddy News reported.
According to Harn Yawnghwe, the executive director of the Euro-Burma
office, the claims were made by usually reliable sources and were posted
accurately without any editing.
Moreover he said that he intended to post the report so as to warn
both all the parties concerned to put a stop on the violence in
Meikhtila. It was never their intention to do unjust things and harm the
reputation of the NLD.
