15 Myanmar migrants admitted to Thai hospital after Van overturns

A six year old boy and a four month old baby were among the fifteen Myanmar passengers who were badly injured when their van overturned on Phetkasem road in Ratchaburi’s Pak Tho district on Wednesday, said news report from Bangkok Post.

According to Pol Sub Lt Sutthipan Samkhumpim, a duty officer at Pak Tho police station who conducted an investigation, the driver of the van Malukan Samoh disclosed that he lost control of the vehicle after the back tire burst. Unfortunately the van overturned before it fell into a ditch. All passengers were treated at Pak Tho hospital.

He further added that the van was travelling from Narathiwat to Tak’s Mae Sot district with 15 Myanmar migrants who hid in Thailand after being expelled from Malaysia. They were to be sent back to their home country.

Mr Malukan, a Narathiwat resident sustained minor injury in the accident. The driver told the authorities that he was travelling with another passenger van carrying another group of 15 Myanmar people who were led by the immigration police, the report said.
