KIO, government peace talks focus on military affairs

Military and armed issues were discussed by the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO) and the government last May 29. Said event was held in a closed door meeting as requested by the KIO, said news report from Eleven Media.

High profile leader’s who were present in the meeting includes Lt-Gen Myint Soe of Defence Ministry, Vice-chairman Aung Min and Maj-Gen Gwan Maw of Kachin Independent Army (KIA) and other representatives from both sides. Gwan Maw also represented the KIO.

According to Lt-Gen Myint Soe, the discussions about military concerns were done. Their conference was made in a constructive manner. They also talked about the conflicts and unrests that are still happening in the Northern Shan State.

He further added that whatever discussions they had in that closed door meeting will soon be made publicly, the report said.
