For Myanmar to successfully achieve national reconciliation, the
country needs the support and wide cooperation from the parliament,
government, military and its people. Ethnic leaders, MPs and politicians
also stressed that there is a need to abolish draconian laws, according
to news report from Eleven Media.
Ko Ko Gyi from '88 Generation
Peace and Open Society disclosed that holding on to our own conviction
can help us reach out and work for national reconciliation. Telling the
truth, raising strong disapproval and criticism while emphasizing
weakness points is an important factor for national reconciliation.
Trust
building between ethnic armed groups, politicians as well as with the
government would not be easy, say political analysts. However, President
Thein Sein is full of confidence that his advocacy for national
reconciliation in Myanmar will be attained.
Hsan Aung , a member
of Peace Creation Group (PCG) stressed that trust building is very
important for national reconsolidation. He further added that the
government is not good in building trust. Words are not enough for it to
work but action is needed and necessary.
He further said that the
law that oppresses the ethnic groups as well as the politician must be
put to an end. The passing of fine laws that will benefit the majority
is very significant in national reconciliation, the report said.
