SNLD and SNDP urged to merge as one large party

SNLD spokesperson Sai Leik said that the Nationalities League for Democracy Party and the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party must join together for political purposes, said news report from Eleven Media.

Their position to stand as one big party is to oppose the 2008 Constitution.

SNDP secretary SaiHlaKyaw disclosed that the SNDP has formed its coordination committee on its 2nd Party Assembly so that the SNLD party can join. Private talks were also held among the members of their parties.

Majority of the ethnic Shan people want the two parties to form together as one before the general elections of 2015, the report said.
