A peaceful rally was held by local workers in Myanmar last May 11 demanding the owner of a Chinese factory in Yangon to increase their salary to 85000 kyats (about $100) a month and to work 8 hours a day, said news report from Eleven Media.
Other demands made were to pay their overtime and no salary cut on working days except on Sundays.

Cho Thet Mon, an employee of the factory disclosed that they went to the office to talk about their demands but they were told to just talk to the owner of the factory. Finally when they met the owner, he said that there will be no salary increase.

The factory is "HoteSein" in Chinese located in Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon and is responsible for making laminated woven bags.

There are about 110 workers employed by the company and 80 of them had expressed their sentiments by joining in the protest, the report said.
