Myanmar beats India 2-0 in Women’s Asia Cup qualifier

Two players from Myanmar’s team scored in the first half goals in their first Group D encounter of the AFC Women's Asian Cup football qualifiers held at the Faisal Al Huseni Stadium, IANS news reported.

Scoring for the first half goals for Myanmar was NawPhaw in the 5th minute while Khin Moe Wai scored for the 26th minute. Meanwhile Yee YeeOo's effort in the 27th minute hit the woodwork last Tuesday night.

On the other hand, Moe Wai converted Than ThanHtwe's spadework from close range. It was 2-0 at halftime.

As Myanmar played a high line in the first half, the members were forced to drop deep as the likes of Bembem Devi and Kamala Devi made numerous inroads into the final third.

Team Myanmar worked in phases guarding in numbers switching from the initial 4-4-2 formation to a defensive 5-4-1.

Anadi Barua, coach of India opted for two options; one is replacing Bala Devi by PinkyBompal and Dangmei Grace replacing Sasmita Malik. However his strategy did not work out as the competition ended 2 – 0 in favour of the Myanmar team, the report said.
