The Shan State Army South were accused by the government of Myanmar for allegedly attacking a state oil and gas company compound near the Chinese border that brought two people dead and three suffered injuries, said news report from Global Post.
According to the report made by the state-owned Myanma Ahlin newspaper last Wednesday, Restoration Council of the Shan State-Shan State Army guerrillas fired at the Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise compound in Namkham, 740 kilometres (460 miles) north of Yangon last Monday.
However, the report by SHAN last week disclosed that the Burmese army started the attack on their troop bases on the Mao (Shweli) valley on the Sino-Burmese border.
RCSS Secretary General Lt. Col. Yawd Murng said that they never started the fight. It was the Military units of Myanmar who initiated the attacks under the leadership of the Military Operations Command (MOC) #16 based in Namkham and tried to move forward on areas that are under their control from 6 directions.
According to Lt-Gen YawdSerk, Chairman of RCSS it could have been better if the Burmese army have talked with the liaison office of the movement regarding the problem so as not to create any violation on the ceasefire agreement.
Even with the existence of ceasefire agreements between the government and various ethnic groups continuous fighting is still on the rise, the report said. Original source: http://www.betweenonline.com/2013/05/16/myanmar-accuses-ssarcss-of-attacking-state-oil-office/
