Heavy downpour of rain struck townships in Eastern Myanmar killing eleven gold miners and four people are still missing, said news report from AFP.
According to the Red Cross, rescue operations had been undertaken in areas where it was totally hit and help and assistance are still trying to move in near Kalaw in southern Shan State.
A post of the Police Force on its official Facebook page disclosed last Thursday a tree fell down and hit the building where the miners lived. Six people were reportedly killed and two others were also killed nearby.
Moreover, around 170 buildings were damaged including two schools by the strong rain. In a gold mine nearby, three people have died and another four more are missing.
Disaster Management Officer for Myanmar's Red Cross Kyaw San Win said that official statistics showed that 16 people were killed since the heavy rains continued for a couple of days causing the landslides, the report said.
