President Thein Sein of Myanmar together with Brazilian President Mr Luiz Lula won the Pursuit of Peace Award held at The Pierre Hotel in New York last Monday, Eleven Media news reported.
Minister Aung Min, vice chairman accepted the Peace Prize on behalf of President Thein Sein.
The Peace Prize award represents all the citizens of Myanmar who joined hands and work together with the government for the achievement of democracy in the country.
In the event that democracy is not achieved, there would be no peace. He further said that they welcome and appreciate those people who express hope and look forward that democracy will soon be attained.
It's not only ideology or hope that makes up a democratic form of government. Good democratic habits are to be firmly established. Social equality is important not only to a selected few but serve equal rights to every individual. We have to set open-mindedness.
This is the best time to do and accomplish everything that is only imagined in the past. It is remarkably important to transform all the old ways to make certain that the interest and welfare of the populace will be realized.
He also said that with the help, support and assistance of the citizens of Myanmar and the International community the advocacy on reform process for the country will continuously be implemented.
