New clashes between SSPP/SSA and Myanmar army in Northern Shan State

New hostilities ensued yesterday between the Burmese army and the Shan State Progress Party / Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) when the former opened fire at SSPP/SSA soldier who just went to get water in nearby Tangyan Township, northern Shan State. The fight continued until today as the military forces its way to overrun the SSA base, according to news reported from SHAN.

Information received said that from 3:30 to 7:00 pm, Burmese army from Battalion 291 based in Lashio attacked the SSPP/SSA base 192 at LoiZay situated on Tangyan – Monghsu highway on the way to Mongkao, Tangyan in northern Shan State.

Yesterday, troops from Infantry Battalion 33 and Light Infantry Battalion 326 have reinforced the attackers since early 6.30 am until after sunsetsaid a commander in the field, the report said.

As of yesterday, the Infantry Battalion 33troops together with the Light Infantry Battalion 326 have joined forces to outdo the SSA forces from 6:30 in the morning until after sunset.
